What computer and accessories should I buy?
I’m getting a new computer very, very soon, and I want it to be specifically for gaming. My father already has an older computer that has all the crap I could ever want to help me with my school work, but it’s way past its prime and I can barely run Tetris on it. This new computer has to be able to run games like Mount&Blade (hundreds of bodies on screen at once) flawlessly. That is my primary game, but I also would like to get into newer RTS games like some of the Warhammer ones, so a computer that can handle up to two games is what I need.
My budget is ~$2000. I know little to nothing about computers, so hopefully you can point me in the right direction.
With 2000 you are definitely in good shape. You can buy a top-of-the line system with that. Actually, from my research you can get a really good gaming rig for way less, but why skimp?
I can’t tell you what all the different options available to you are, but Mount and Blades requirements are pretty low, so you’re good there. You want to look at the recommended requirements for something that just came out recently like, for instance, Dragon Ages: Origins from Bioware:
* CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz Processor or equivalent
* RAM: 4 GB (Vista) or 2 GB (XP)
* Video: ATI 3850 512 MB or greater
* NVIDIA 8800GTS 512 MB or greater
* DVD ROM (Physical copy)
* 20 GB HD space
So you want a comparable system at the minimum. But you have $2000 to spend so why stop there? Also, think about the fact you want this thing to be awesome for a couple years at the least.
Think primarily about processor (try to top 3Ghz), graphics card, and RAM(try to get a system that allows you to upgrade your RAM as much as possible, like 8-16GB). Those are the keys to opening your games up now and in the future. Look at new/recent games that you might want and their RECOMMENDED requirements and then try to beat them excessively (the requirements, not the game).

EDIT: Since you are new at this, you should do some research on your own. When you start looking at systems, look at the specifications. Then copy and paste the components (processor, graphics card, etc.) into your search engine, along with the word “review”. This will take you to reviews of your prospective components, so you can see some benchmark tests and comparisons. Learn to read these and you will be able to make a more educated purchase. And if all else fails: higher numbers good, lower numbers bad. And again: be especially careful when choosing a graphics card. VERY important.
